November 23, 2012By Kenneth True of Nations Elite
Alex Robinson out of Arlington (TX)’s Timberview HS is one of the top PG’s in the class of 2014. The 6’1 165 lbs. floor general that plays for Team Texas on the summer circuit is already getting his mail box jammed with letters from prospective colleges.
Robinson has already gotten interest from “Memphis, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Kansas, Texas, Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Kansas State.” The talented lead guard also has offers from “Marquette, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, Providence, Oklahoma State, North Texas, Houston, Georgia, and Baylor.”
The talented junior prospect says “I’m open and so far I haven’t leaned to anyone. I’m just trying to hoop and see what else pops up.” Robinson likes all the attention he has received to this point but says “Not that I’m not satisfied, I’ve just been more focused on my game.”
As far as a program that is recruiting him the hardest Robinson says “I would say Texas A&M has been on me the hardest.”
One program Robinson has taken notice of but has yet to hear from is Kentucky, the junior spoke about two of Kentucky’s 2013 signees in Andrew and Aaron Harrison of which he says “That’s crazy that they went to Kentucky, they’re going to be nice there next year.”
As for him and the Wildcats he says “I haven’t been in the right places, the last time they saw me was when (Marquis) Teague was a senior and I was in 8th grade playing for Team Texas 17’s in Kansas.” Robinson would go deeper into why Kentucky hasn’t seen him in saying “The Titans got Team Texas EYBL bid so I haven’t been able to put myself out there like I had planned.”
When it comes to getting on campuses for visits the Texas local has taken in many of the Texas schools including “Texas, Baylor, TCU, and Texas A&M.” Of those visits he says “They all were fun, I’d like to go back for a second look to compare schools and staffs.”
“I wouldn’t mind playing with Kelly Oubre, because he’s unselfish and a good all around player. And Jahlil Okafor because of his size and IQ for his position.”
The junior standout tells SX that Virginia Tech, TCU, Texas A&M, and Kansas State have came by in the past 3-4 weeks.
