Marshal. The Mustangs came into the game sporting a 2-0 record defeating Durant High and J.Z. George while the Tigers came into Friday night’s game with a 0-2 record loosing big to both West Oktibbeha & West Tallahatchie. The Mustangs stuffed the Tigers on their first drive then the Mustangs turned around and Timothy Stewart senior FB #33 scored on a 9 yd. run. Qb Rotavious Thurmand added the 2 pt. conversion. The Mustangs next scored with 4:17 left in the first when Thurmand hit #22 Wr Aconya Brown on a 16 yd. pass. #33 Stewart added the 2 pt. conversion. Sr. LB #27 Gentry Greer scooped up a tiger fumble and took it 16 yards to pay dirt. Stewart again added 2 points to the total. With 7:45 left in the second #70 Soph. LB Brian Pernell took his second interception of the year back home for 6 pts. The extra point attempt by Bennet Meeks failed. Almost immediately after #24 Sr. TE Robert Jordan took a fumble 30 yds. for another score. Rotavious Thurmand added another 2 pts. to make the half time score 38 to 0. The Tigers got the kick off at the beginning of the second half but were unable to make much of the opportunity. Gentry Greer added to the point total with a sack for a safety. With 5:17 left to go in the 3rd Sr. Qb Rotavious Thurmand used his legs to go 45 yds. for the second mustang score of the second half. Sr. HB #12 Furnell Flemming added another 2 points to bring the score to 48 to 0. But the Mustangs were not finished there they added 1 more score in the 3rd with a fumble recovery by Jamie Banks returned for a TD and a 26 yd. touchdown strike in the 4th from Thurmand to Sr. WR #26 Tyrun Lemon. The Mustangs Defense was stingy all night and didn’t allow the Tiger offence much progress at all. The Mustangs were fighting the injury bug and playing with 3 key starters out #55 Starting OG Jawandrick Anderson #62 starting C Derion Love & #30 Starting DE Shaquile Brown. The Mustang reserves proved to be ready at a minutes notice. The Mustangs will next be in action at home on 9/07/2012 vs. the 0-3 Lanier Bulldogs. Please come out to support the mustangs.
