1st ever Alumni Race is in the Books!
August 20, 2014By Chris Davis of Bishop Brossart High School
Tonight the current boys and girls cross country teams hosted the 1st ever alumni race at AJ Jolly Park. It was a perfect night for racing after the storms rolled out of southern Campbell County. It was the first time this season that the boys defending state champions put on their uniforms and they ran very confidently. Chris Loos led the way with 2nd place finish, in a time of 17:20, Nick Schuler, Ross Klocke, Adam Hartig, and Ronny Smith were all close behind in their first race out.
Although, the team has lost standout Michael Caldwell to NKU, it can be argued that this year's team has gotten stronger as the remaining top 7 are all back.
Tim Kaiser, a 2002 graduate of Bishop Brossart, and a former University of Louisville track standout, easily outpaced the field. Kaiser ran the 5k course in 16:32. Kaiser seemingly has gotten better with age, and in fact this Sunday Kaiser will compete in his 6th IronMan Triatholon! He will have to swim several miles, bike over one hundred, and then run a marathon! Good luck Tim!
On the girls side Kendall Schuler led the girls team and ran a solid 22:01 on the 5K course. Kendall is coming off a very successful track season and looks to be among the best runners in Class A.
Thanks to all of the Alums who came out tonight! We intend to keep this as an annual event and make it bigger and better next year!
