Mustangs fall to Cov Cath in Soccerrama

August 11, 2014
Bishop Brossart High School

The Mustangs and Colonels battled it out in Fort Thomas Saturday night. Both teams looked evenly matched as the defenses shut down every attack. The Colonels struck in the 25th minute of the game off a break away and a nice cross that barley got past Jeff Paulin. That is all they needed to win the game. The second half the Mustangs looked much better as they had a couple of great opportunities one from 8 feet out, but the shot went just wide and another header that sailed just over the crossbar.

Jeff Paulin and Austin Zalac were in goal for the Mustangs. Jeff had a couple of really great saves as well as Austin. The defensive played well and stopped many attacks before getting a shot at goal.

The offensive unit played well, however every time they made a run their shots were off target. They had some great balls right in front of the net in the second half however just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Since this was a scrimmage, Coach Goller played many players still giving his underclassmen an opportunity to show their skills before the season begins. It is back to the drawing board and practice this week before the Green and White Night on Thursday and the Alumni game as well. The season will begin on August 18th in North Oldham.

The Mustangs complete the preseason with a record of 3-1.
