April 2, 2014By Chris Davis of Bishop Brossart High School
The JV track team took advantage of some nice weather on Monday winning at Conner High School. The team was able to get in several new runners who have came out for the team this year, and it was a good day all around for the Mustangs. The JV team outpaced Cov Cath by 24 points.
Cody Chism led the team with a 1st place victory in the mile, running a smoking fast time for a freshmen 4:54!Basketball players Drew Burns, Joey Hickman, and John Ridder also had a solid debut for the track team. Tanner Robinson also did well in all three sprinting events. Josh Klear also was solid as he tried out the 300 Hurdles for the first time.
The high light of the meet was Ross Klocke winning the two mile in a personal best 10:49, and then joining the 4x400 meter relay team as their anchor, which was the very next race! No one at the meet ran more than Ross!
The JV squad will be back in action this Thursday, weather permitting, at Ryle, and then next Thursday at St. Henry.
