Boys' Track Ends Indoor Season with a State Championship

March 10, 2014
By Chris Davis of Bishop Brossart High School

The Bishop Brossart Winter Warrior Indoor Track team closed out the indoor portion of the schedule with the KTCCCA Indoor State Championships this past Saturday. The team went down to Maysville with one thing on their mind, winning state. The Mustangs put on a dominating performance over the Single A competition.

The team got off to a great start with a victory in the 4x800, of Loos, Caldwell, Vogel and Ronny Smith. Caldwell also won the 1600 and 800 with ease, and Chris Loos pulled off a stunning comeback in the 400 meter dash.

Perhaps the best demonstration of the team's depth was in the 400 meter dash where the Mustangs took up 6 of the top 8 spots. Including a impressive 5th place performance out of Dalton Linebach.

The 4x400 ended the running events by edging out NCC by a second. The team consisting of Drew Miller, Joe Donnelly, Daniel Vogel, and Dutch Graus held NCC at bay in a perfect way to end the meet.

Gabe Roberts, Drew Berkmeyer, and Chase Britt led the way for the Mustangs in the field events.

It was an impressive 37 point victory over Green County. The team now will begin their outdoor season with a meet at Boone County on Tuesday and Conner on Saturday.
