Michael Caldwell to Sign National Letter of Intent Friday at 2:30pm

February 11, 2014
By Chris Davis of Bishop Brossart High School

On this Friday the 14th, at 2:30 pm in the Cafeteria, Michael Caldwell will sign to run for Northern Kentucky University, fulfilling a dream to become a scholarship Division I athlete. Michael's career at BBHS has spanned all the way back to the 8th grade. Over the last 5 years Michael has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest athletes to ever put on a Brossart jersey. Even to be in the conversation as one of the greatest runners of all time at BBHS is pretty impressive for a school that has won 9 State Championships in XC and 3 in Track and Field.

This past XC season Michael led the Mustangs to their first state title in the past 11 years. He also defended his regional title going down as one of very few runners to win the Northern Kentucky Regional Championship in back to back seasons.

In track Michael has been on 2 state championship 2 mile relay teams, and was runner-up last year in the 800 M run. He was the only runner in Northern Kentucky who broke 2 minutes in the 800, 4:30 in the Mile, and 10 minutes in the 2 mile. As he concludes his remarkable career at BBHS Michael has set some lofty goals, including  winning the regional team title, bringing home a trophy from the state meet, and taking a shot at all the distance records at BBHS. If his first indoor meet, where he broke the indoor school record in the mile, is any indication, Michael is well on his way.

Coach Braun, Davis, Nerone,  and Stover wish him nothing but the best, and we thank him for his commitment and leadership to Bishop Brossart Highshool. This event is open to the public.
