Mustangs take first game in Henry County Holiday Tournament

December 27, 2013
By Christopher Jennings of Bishop Brossart High School

The Mustangs win their first game in the Henry County Holiday Tournament defeating Frankfort Western Hills 65-41.  The Mustangs jumped out quickly, getting a three right out of the tip, from Erik Reiger.  They continued on a 14-2 run to open up a 14 point lead to end the first quarter.  The Mustangs size and defensive effort seemed to be too much for the Wolverines.  The Stangs extended the lead to 24 to close out the half at 43-15.  The third quarter was more of the same as the Mustangs extended the lead to 60-26.  The fourth quarter allowed Coach Code to empty the bench and play a supporting cast of JV players.  The Wolverines were able to make up some ground and finished the game at 65-41.  Drew Burns recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Alex Trentman also scored 22 points and another nice dunk, while Erik Reiger chipped in 7 points.

The Mustangs are back in action for two games on Friday, taking on LaRue County at 1:30 pm and DeSales at 4:30 PM.  Both games are at Henry County High School.
