Heartbreak loss as Mustangs give up own goal early, then two late goals to lose 3-2.

The Mustangs traveled down the AA to the home of the Russell Red Devils for their final game of the season. The Mustangs lost to Russell who improves their record to 12-3-2 on the year. The Mustangs will look to regroup in the Districts as they start this Tuesday at Campbell County High School.
The Mustangs gave up an own goal in the 7th minute of the game. Nick Dierig got the equalizer in the 19th minute and the score would end 1-1 after the first period.
Neither team could find the back of the net early then in the 67th minute, Eli Nienaber blasted a ball from 6 yards out that got past the keeper for the 2-1 lead. Jake Jennings had a great ball to Eli for the assist.
The Red Devils would tie the score at 2-2 in the 73rd minute of the game. Then in stoppage time Russel scored the go ahead goal for the 3-2 win and the Mustangs had a much longer drive home.
The Mustangs will look to circle the wagons as they head to Districts against Calvary Christian this week. The Mustangs beat Calvary earlier in the year 10-0 and with a win will guarantee a spot in the 10th Region Tournament, but also a chance to win the District Championship for the 2nd year in a row.
