Varsity Boys take Pendleton County to the Woodshed

The Big Green Scoring Machine is back on track after another huge win. The Mustangs scored early building a 5-0 lead in the first 16 minutes of the game. Coach gave the starters a break as many JV players took over after the 5th goal.
The scoring started early when Mark Goller got the game winner in the 3rd minute on a nice corner kick from Jon Hen. The Nationwide Insurance Goal of the Game came in the 6th minute when Senior, Jon Henn scored from 7 yards out. The party was just getting started in the 8th frame when Senior, Jake Jennings sent a ball to Drew Berkemeyer from 6 yards out for the 3-nil lead and the route was on. Senior, Drew Berkemeyer got his second goal of the game in the 13th minute to make the score 4-nil when he sent a scorcher into the nylon from 12 yards out. Jake Jennings picked up his goal on the night when Dylan Geiman found Jake’s foot. Jacob sent it past the keeper for the 5-0 lead. The final goal of the half came in the 29th minute when Sophomore, Joe Hickman got his first varsity goal of his career. Joey, sent a rocket from 12 yards out between the posts. Chase Hauke got credit for the assit on a nice ball he sent to Joey. The 1st period ended with the Mustangs up 6-0.
The second half didn’t get any better for the Wildcats. In the 44th frame Jacob Frommeyer recorded his first varsity goal of his career when he chipped one up and over the keeper for the 7-0 lead. Matthew Smith got credit on the assist as he sent a nice through ball to Jacob. The final goal came in the 62nd minute when Matthew Smith recorded his first varsity goal of his career when he got a nice pass from Gabe Roberts from 6 yards out. Smith buried the ball into the center of the net for the nail in the coffin.
Andrew Erickson and Jeff Paulin combined for the 2nd shutout in a row. The defense didn't give up any real opportunities to the Wildcats.
Brossart had 26 shots to only 5 for PC. The Mustangs had 8 corner kicks to only 1 for PC. Brossart improves their record to 7-1 on the season and will play Calvary Christian (record 4-1) on Saturday afternoon for the All A 10th Region Finals. Calvary’s common opponents are Scott, which they lost 3-0 and Holy Cross which they beat 5-2.
Should the Mustangs get past Calvary they will get a big test as they will face Newport Central Catholic at Morscher Field on Tuesday night for the All A Sectional and a chance to head to State for the All A Classic. As soon as we have a time we will post it on the website. Make sure you tell all your friends, family, and students to come out to support your Mustangs.
