The Big Green Scoring Machine wins the Scott County Championship

The Boys Varsity Squad picked up more hardware last night as they beat the Scott County Cardinals at Georgetown College. The Mustangs won 5-1 and are playing some really great soccer. They are now 5-0 on the year and averaging 5.2 goals a game. The Mustangs have outscored their opponents 26-3 in the first 5 games.
The first goal of the game came in the 6th frame when Mark Goller made a nice pass to Jon Henn who sent the ball from the right side from 22yards that found the nylon. The Mustangs picked up the game winner in the 13th minute when Drew Miller buried the ball in the back of the net from 38 yards out on a free kick to give the Mustangs the 2-0 lead. Three minutes later in the 16th frame Jacob Frommeyer found Drew Berkemeyer for the Great American Insurance goal of the game. Drew Berkemeyer had 4 goals in the tournament. The Mustangs ended the first period up 3-0.
Scott County got on the board in the 48th minute off a corner kick for their lone goal of the game. The Mustangs took less than 90 seconds to get that goal back as their was a foul in the box. Senior, Jacob Jennings took the penalty kick that got past the keeper for the 4-1 lead.
The Mustangs finished out the scoring the in 79th minute when Drew Miller picked up his second goal of the night on a corner kick from Jacob Frommeyer.
The defense played well again tonight. They have only allowed 3 goals this season in the first 5 games.
The Mustangs had 15 shots as did Scott County. Scott County only had 5 shots on goal and the Mustangs had 10 on goal. The All Tournament Team consisted of Josh Keuper, Jonn Henn, Mark Goller, and Drew Berkemeyer.
Next up for the Mustangs is a return to Northern Kentucky and a home game against the district rival the Scott Eagles Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. The game is at Pendry.
