Mader Qualifies For State

The Kentucky 4th regional championship meet was held on Friday and Saturday at SilverLake in Erlanger. There were over 30 schools and in excess of 500 swimmers participating in the meet.
Swimmers are limited to swim 2 events in the regional and state meets.
In the preliminary event, Cylee Reinhart finished 28th in the 50 yard freestyle race, in a field of 91 swimmers, with a time of 30.43 seconds.
Cylee also finished 28th in the 100 yard freestyle race, in a field of 86 swimmers, with a time of 1.10:04 (1 minute, 10.04 seconds).
Only the top 16 lowest times advanced to the finals on Saturday. Cylee lowered previous times and had a strong showing at the meet. Watch for Cylee next year!
In the preliminary event, Jake Mader finished 4th in the 200 Individual Medley race, in a field of 40 swimmers, with a time of 2:02:03 (2minutes, 2.03 seconds). He advanced to Saturday finals.
Jake also finished 4th in the 100 yard breast stroke race, in a field of 60 swimmers, with a time of 1:03:44 (1minute, 3.44 seconds). He advanced to Saturday finals in this race as well.
Again the top 16 swimmers in each race qualified for finals on Saturday. Only the top 8 swimmers compete in the championship heat.
Jake claimed 6th place medal in the 200 yard individual medley regional championship race with a time of 2:00:84 (2 minutes, .84 seconds)
Jake claimed 5th place medal in the 100 yard breast stroke regional championship race with a time of 1:02:40 (1 minute, 2.40 seconds)
Both of Jakes final times are significantly lower than his state qualifying times from last year and should easily qualify him for the 2013 state championship meet at the University of Louisville on February 22nd & 23rd.
Only the top 32 swimmers in the state from each race will qualify for the state championship meet. The combined 5 regions include close to 3,000 swimmers. The results were announced today and Jake is In!!
It is official. Jake Mader made the state championship in both events.
Jake goes to the state championship meet ranked 17th in the state in the 200 Individual Medley and ranked 20th in the state in the state in the 100 Breast Stroke.
