Home » Boys' Basketball NewsTrentman Nets 20 On His BirthdayDecember 19, 2012 By Melvin Webster of Bishop Brossart High School The Brossart Mustangs reeled off their 8th consecutive victory of the 2012-2013 campaign against no losses, dispatching overmatched 1-9 Calvary Christian 69-30 before a friends and family gathering on Tuesday night in the SyDome. While our JV team is not an overwhelmingly big squad, they were on Tuesday night against the grossly overmatched Calvary Christian JVs. The game started with the Cougars drawing first blood on a field-goal by Danny McWhorter, a seventh grader, but quickly tied up as the Mustangs answered and then took a 4-2 lead, before Quinn Varnado tied it up at fours. That was as close as it would get on this night as the Mustangs exploded on a 14-0 run, giving the home team an 18-4 first quarter advantage, and that was that. The Mustang JVs, in winning 57-13, improve their overall record to 5-1 on the season and remain only one point to Highlands away from being undefeated. They were led tonight in the scoring column by Blake Saunders, who poured in 15 points for the second time in 24 hours. Jon Zink added 11. All 9 Mustang JVs scored in this one.
