Lady 'Stangs Crush Harrison County 63-30

 In the old days the Bishop Brossart – Harrison County girl's
basketball game would draw region wide attention. For a long period inthe late 1990's to early 2000's the two teams were among the premiereprograms in the state both winning Region Championships. Both teamshave battled thru some up and down seasons since but it appears while the Lady 'Stangs are on a strong upswing the Fillies have fallen on hard times. Bishop Brossart cruised to another easy win at 63-30 at Seither Center to improve to 5-1 while Harrison County falls to 0-5 on the young season.
     Brossart broke from an early 6-5 deficit to run out to a 19-8
first quarter advantage before extending that to 39-14 at intermissionwith a 20-6 second quarter. They eventually opened up a 63-27 lead to invoke the running clock for the fourth time this season. The Lady 'Stangs were playing without senior point guard Rachel Hartig who missed the contest with a slight injury.
     Junior Center Sarah Futscher again was the leading scorer with 13 but got solid help from the guard trio of junior Morgan Verst (10), junior Madison Eisenmann (9) and junior Abby Stadtmiller (8). 15 different Lady 'Stangs saw action, 11 playing 7 plus minutes.
     Brossart dominated most offensive categories including rebounding 42-30, steals 19-0, assists 9-0, free throw points 11-5, three point points 12-3, 2nd chance points 15-6 and a whopping 26-0 advantage in points off the bench. On defense Brossart forced the Fillies into 24 turnovers and had 40 defensive stops.
     Junior Center Jordan Doram had 18 points and 13 rebounds for
Harrison Co. to lead both teams.
     In the junior varsity game, Brossart broke open a 21-21 halftime
tie to win going away 47-33 thanks to a 17-2 fourth quarter run.
Freshman Emily Schultz netted 12, freshman Abby King 10 and Freshman Sydney Shannon 10 to lead the Lady 'Stangs. Brossart outrebounded Harrison 41-25 and held a 19-3 advanatge on second chance points.
     Next up for Brossart is a trip to Beechwood on Wednesday evening and then home Saturday night for a District seed game with Scott.
