Lady 'Stangs Stop Lady Raiders 54-52

]The Lady 'Stangs rolled to an impressive 54-52 win over 6th ranked Ryle at Seither Center Friday night. Brossart came into the contest 3-1 while Ryle had avergaed 67 points per game while defeating Bourbon Co. and Cincinnati Colerain. Brossart lone loss was a 55-51 heartbreaker at number 2 ranked Highlands last night.
Ryle jumped to an early lead and maintained an 11-9 first quarter advantage and 22-18 at the intermission. Brossart cut it to 35-33 after three and then took the lead three times in the final two minutes in a game that saw the lead excange hands 6 times and tied 8 times. Ryle's largest lead had been 31-22.
The rebounds were a dead tie at 32-32. Ryle outshot the Lady 'Stangs 46% to 34.5%. Brossart hed advantages from 3 pt poin ts (12 to 3), Free Throws (14 to 11) and points off the bench (16-13).
Junior center Sarah Futscher, a first team all-region player last year, led the Lady 'WStangs with 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting from the floor including some clutch baskets in the last minute of the contest. junior's Abby Stadtmiller and Cori Ziegler also had solid games for Brossart with 10 points each. Ziegler was 3 of 5 from the floor and 3 of 4 from the line. Johnson led Ryle with 15 points.
Brossart also won the junior varsity game 34-32 outscoring Ryle 18-7 in the final quarter to win. Freshman Abby King led Brossart with 11. Emily Schultz had 7.
Brossart fell in the freshmen game. The Lady 'Stangs host Harrison County on Monday night for a triple header.
All in all a nice night.
