Mavericks back on track against WoodCreek JH

The Maverick C team beat Wood Creek JH 34- 13. Most valuable players this week were Christian McBride and Jonas Calhoun who scored 6 and 7 points for the night. The Maverick pressure defense was too much for the Timberwolves of Wood Creek. After a high speed first half with a lead of 21-6 the Mavericks never looked back. Great job Mavericks. Players of the Game were Adrian DeJesus, Jonas Calhoun and Christian McBride with 9, 7 and 6 points.
Against the 8th Grade "B" Team the Timberwolves controlled the scoreboard most of the game but the Mavericks turned it up on defense in the second half and were able to take control and seal the victory by a final score of 42-33. Player of the Game was Brian Smith with 9 points and a key 3 point shot to take the lead for the Mavericks. Other key contributors were Kamaru Dorsey with 17 points, Alec To with 5 points, and Simon Lueth with 6 points.
The 8th grade boys “A” Team Continued their winning ways last night by torching the Timberwolves from Woodcreek 66-34. The Mavs were led by Jamal Bienemy with 24 points and 5 assist and Alan Estupian with 12 points and 4 rebounds. The defense was suffocating early as the Mavs jumped out to a 18 -3 lead and never looked back. Leading the Defense was Shawn Thomas with 11 points and 7 steals and Edmond Thomas with 5 steals and 5 rebounds. The Mavs improve their record to 9 wins and 0 losses.
The boys will be home next Monday as they battle the Bulldogs from Beck. Go Mavs!
