Maverick fight through the Spartans...

The 8th Grade Maverick Boys pull out of Seven Lakes JH with 2 wins and 1 loss.  All games were close and hard fought.  

The "C" team started the night with a disappointing loss at Seven Lakes JH.  The Spartans held the Mavericks scoreless in the first quarter with its pressure defense.  The second quarter the Ranch finally got the ball in the basket and rallied to come within 3 at the half.  In the end the ball just would not drop and the Mavericks lost 20-28.  Player of the game was Adrian DeJesus and Rashard Blackwell with 7 and 5 points and defensive player was Jakob Martinez.  This game gave Morton it's first loss in the season to make them 3-1.

The Gold (B) Maverick Basketball Team pulled off a thrilling come from behind victory, defeating Seven Lakes JH by a final score of 41-40.  The Spartans of Seven Lakes maintained the lead throughout the game but the Mavericks rallied back in the final minute of the game to seal the 1 point victory.  Co-Players of the Game were Kamaru Dorsey with 9 points and Jarell Abraham with 8 points.  Other key players were Jerimiah Green, Brian Smith, and Mario Vasquez all with 6 points each.  The Gold Basketball Team improved to a 4-0 record on the season and will travel back to Seven Lakes Junior High this Thursday for the Katy ISD B Team Tournament.   

The “A” team stopped the Spartans from Seven Lakes 58-54 in the final thriller. The  “A” team remains undefeated and stays in first place in the race for the district title. Leading the Mavs was Edmond Thomas with 17 points and 5 steals, CJ Washington with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Shawn Thomas 13 points  4 steals . The Mavs will battle Wood creek next week on the road. Go Mavs!
