Hawks Top Panthers in Regional Opener

The top seeded Mohawk Valley Community College Lady Hawks opened regional play with a 86-40 win over Tompkins Cortland Community College. 

Coach Jason Carpenter said the score doesn't truly indicate how the game went. He said the win was a product of how well the team played and it that was the perfect time to have his team click on all cylinders.  

The Hawks trailed for the first few minutes of the contest before they went on a big run to open up a 40-24 halftime lead.

Stevie Ray scored 20 pointsm including four 3-point baskets, and Shaniece Brown added 14 as every active member of the Hawks scored in the game.

Meghan Ideman had 10 points while Audrey Kate Ordway and Chelsi Rosa each chipped in 9 for the Panthers.

MVCC will play Fulton Montgomery, a 64-51 winner over Finger Lakes, in the Regional Semifinals at 1pm Saturday at MVCC.
