MAVERICKS DALLAS-WICHITA EXPOSURE SQUADS RELEASED

Happy to release the Dallas-Wichita exposure teams and coaching staff for the late July session.  This is an exciting group of guys and families that I am really looking forward to leading into competition.  I think every team will compete, and maybe even challenge.

We have tentatively lined up the Fieldhouse of Springfield for our practice location Monday, July 21 and Tuesday, July 22.  We’ll practice all four teams from 10 AM to 4 PM Monday, go to Lamberts as a group for supper Monday night, then practice from 8 to Noon Tuesday before heading out for Dallas.  We have received At-Large Invites from Prime Time and are already “locked in” with Wichita July 31-August 3.

When we go to Dallas, one absolute I am planning is to take a half a day and head to Dealey Plaza, the JFK Museum, the Grassy Knoll, the School Book Depository.  We won’t need to have anyone lead us on a tour…I plan to put on the social studies teacher hat and give every one of these guys a history lesson that will “burn” into their memories forever.  The Kennedy assassination changed all of us, and regardless of your politics, I believe it was the day we all lost our innocence as a nation.  We’ve rebounded and been knocked down two or three times since then, but these kids will have an experience there I’ll see to it they never forget.  I am a bit of an expert on the details and look forward to walking through, and touching the things I’ve only seen on video.

It’s one of my bucket list things before I die --- I also want to go to Hawaii(Pearl Harbor…) and back to New York (Ground Zero) and hope to lead teams there before I hang this up.  There will be a multitude of fun things that we do, but this will be something to remember.

As far as the teams go, first and foremost, these are exceptional young people that will represent our organization.  I expect zero issues with behavior or “choices” and we will, of course, discuss all that in great detail before we go.  I’ll provide tons more details as I lock in entry fees, research hotels in Duncanville and DeSoto  and Wichita, and get schedules on the Rangers home schedule and combining that with our schedule.  While it’s a “reach” to think that we’ll get everyone altogether and free for three or four extended periods of time, this may shake out that each team has a different “excursion” schedule---except for the Dealey Plaza trip.

Here’s the teams …  Everyone has at least verbally confirmed, and we have twenty guys needing to conclude their arrangements with us.  But this will be great!
