11-12 Grades Tournament Details --- The 12-teams in A, B and C pools will play in A, B and C brackets.  Teams advancing to the A bracket will play Sunday morning beginning at 11 AM --- B and C bracket first round tournament games begin at 6 AM Saturday night at Shawnee Mission Northwest.

Mavericks Announce Fall and Winter Programs Registration opening this weekend

CLINTON, MO --- With the 2013 Missouri Mavericks Summer Session in full swing, plans are already turning to Fall 2013 programming for high school players, and the opening of a junior high-only program for Winter 2014.

FALL 2013 SCHEDULE

This schedule is tentative and based on 2012 schedule, but is expected to follow closely in the upcoming fall.

·        Mavericks fall teams will play in four Kansas City Premiere sponsored tournaments tentatively scheduled for the September 7-8, September 21-22, October 5-6 and October 19-20 weekends.  These are three game tournaments concluding by 1 PM Sunday afternoons.

·        On the same weekends, we will play two games each Sunday afternoon in the KC Premiere Fall League with two games between 1 and 4 PM each Sunday.

·        This program is a 20-game program, costing $495.

·        High school coaches will be Harrison Brumley and Trevor McDaniel.  Practices will be scheduled for the August 24-25 weekend and August 31-September 1 weekends preceding the first tournament, league weekend.

This program is designed for the player not playing football wanting more focused time to tune-up prior to the season’s start Monday, October 28.

Deadline for registration is July 22 weekend at Kansas City.  Players with paperwork on hand do not need to fill out additional paperwork unless new gear is needed or address, email, or phone information have changed.

Two high school teams are planned for the fall session.  Email Coach McLaughlin right away to reserve your spot.  $250 deposit required by July 15, with balance due at practice August 24.

WINTER 2014 PROGRAM

An unmet need is a large “gap” in time between the end of most junior high seasons before Thanksgiving and the start-up of travel basketball in late January and February.  We’re going to step into that gap.

We’ll be providing one and possibly two junior high teams to play in four tournaments in February.  We’ll begin with a tryout weekend for new players over Christmas vacation at Lakeland High School, practice the January 18-19 and January 25-26 weekends and play this tentative schedule:

February 1-2 --- Johnson County, KS (KC)

February 8-9---Columbia, MO

February 15-16---Johnson County, KS (KC)

February 22-23---Johnson County, KS (KC)

March 2-3---Johnson County, KS (KC)

·        Tryouts will be on Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12

·        This program is a five week, 15-game program, costing $495.

·        Coaches will be assigned from within Mavericks staff.  Practices will be scheduled for the August 24-25 weekend and August 31-September 1 weekends preceding the first tournament, league weekend.

Part of the winter program push is to significantly “build up” our presence and reach with 13 and 14 year old players.  It’s an area we want to work harder on going forward.  My goal for the spring of 2014 is two 14U squads and four 14U squads in the summer of 2014.

Two junior high school teams are planned for the winter session.  Email Coach McLaughlin right away to reserve your spot.  $250 deposit required by October 1 with balance due at first practice.  Returning, invited players may attend tryouts without cost January 11 and 12.
