Missouri Mavericks Elite Level Basketball

2015 Program Details, Schedule and Events

The Mavericks just completed our 8th year of service to high school basketball players and coaches in the state of Missouri.  More than 1,000 players have been a Missouri Magic or Maverick player in that time frame.  More than 100 have gone on to the college game, four of them to the NCAA Division I and II level.

We hold a series of fall and spring tryouts each year to fill teams at the 11th-12th grade level, the 9th-10th grade level and the 7th-8th grade level.  Our goal every year is to serve upwards of 150 players.  We have players from all four corners of the state who come to play with us, and all points in between.  We just graduated a player, Chase Tolson of Trenton, who played six seasons in our program, and two players who finished their fourth year.

WHICH PROGRAM SHOULD A PLAYER CHOOSE:

Premiere Program

Elite Program

  • ·        Higher level events---two spring and two summer NCAA evaluation events.
  • ·        Significantly more practice ---Pre-season practice both spring and summer, but practice days or weekends included throughout the season---Design is to be able to get deeply into sets and system, stressing execution under the microscope of college coaches.
  • ·        Most selective program, but requires significantly more commitment to practice and events---more travel expense.
  • ·        Guaranteed player development
  • ·        Guaranteed college

·        Very competitive events, some national level, one NCAA open period event.

·        Two-practice weekends before spring session, two practice weekends before summer session---Design is to get a lot done in a short time, but focus is on basics.  Add two days if including Exposure session in late July

·        Selective, but teams constructed by level to produce three to four teams within an age group.  There will be a difference in competitive ability from top squad to fourth squad.

·        Guaranteed player development

·        College exposure in selected events

Final things to consider:

Multiple Fall tryouts will be utilized to construct these teams.  No spots will be offered until all fall tryouts have been completed.  Players selected and under consideration will receive Elite Level invitations, which they must be prepared to accept in order to be considered for Premiere Level.

We will not carry over open roster spots to the spring.  These teams will have a lot of administrative work that goes with them to prep and get them approved for NCAA sanctioning.

We will accept players at Premiere Level for spring or summer sessions, but will give preference to players able to do both sessions for purposes of team continuity.

Final things to consider:

Tryouts will be conducted both fall and spring(March) to complete both spring and summer teams.

Players will be invited to play following tryouts and will be “pooled” by year and position until spring tryouts, with rosters to be released three to four weeks before the start of each session.

Players may select spring, summer or both sessions.  Elite level players will be invited in late spring to play on Exposure session squads playing in June and late July.  There will be no conflicts between Summer and Exposure session events.
