Miller Grove honored its seven seniors and they were all ready to perform. (Greg Robinson, Jabari Gayle, Sean Charleston, Dominique Flynn, Quran Reid, Douglass Ealey, DeMarion) What made the name impact of this game even bigger was the fact that the winner of this game would take the fourth place spot in 6-AAAA region standings. Sophomore Trey Nelson started on the mound for the Wolverines and he was phenomenal. He pitched through seven innings, 2 ER, and 5 strike outs. Nelson is very young and has a bright future. Miller Grove has one the best defensive cores in DeKalb County, with a balanced infield, and a speedy outfield. Marist also brought their A game, as the game was forced into extra innings. However, the offensive monsters, Sean Charleston, Fentress Henderson, and Greg Robinson refused to lose. These guys put on a performance, all recording at least two hits. Jabari Gayle did an excellent job holding it down for the relief of Trey Nelson. The man of the hour was most definitely senior Sean Charleston. At the bottom of the 9th inning with no out and Randall Reid on first, Mr. Clutch booms the baseball off the gate, scoring the winning run. Coach Canty’s Wolverines now improved to 8-3 in the region and 14-5 overall.
