The Mighty Wolverines started the year off with a BANG with a 13-0 victory over Stone Mountain HS. It was coach Terrance Canty’s high school debut and he had his players rolling. Miller Grove’s batting line-up is strong 1 - 9 as their on-base percentage was well over .500 The Wolverines were led by junior first baseman Fentress Henderson who had an outstanding day at the plate. Henderson went 3 for 3 with a couple of singles, a triple, and for steals. He was also dangerous on the base plates capturing 4 steals.
Canty’s team is an explosive team and all players have the ability to take the extra base. Stone Mountain is a young team and has much potential also. Miller Grove played a great defensive game despite the one questionable error. Sophomore Trey Nelson started the 2012 season giving up 0 earned runs and 0 hits in the 4 innings pitched. He had great commend as he pitched six strikeouts. Juan Hambrick, sophomore, earned the save as well. Miller Grove looks to bounce back from the disappointing 2012 season, when they missed the state playoffs by one game. The mighty Wolverines are working hard and ready to make some noise in the 6-AAAA region. Go! G-o! Go Wolverines Go!
