LADY VIKES WIN BARSTOW INVITE; VIKES SECOND

Midway's varsity track & field teams traveled to Kansas City on Friday, April 24, to participate in the Barstow Invitational. Seventeen schools participated in the meet.


Cass Midway won the girls' division with 117 points. Pembroke Hill was second with 79 points, and Wellington-Napoleon was third with 51 points.


Hogan Prep won the boys' team title with 98 points. Cass Midway was second with 79 ½ points, and Crest Ridge was third with 74 points.


Shannon Carver won both the girls' pole vault and the girls' shot put. Shannon cleared 9' 0" to claim the pole vault crown, and she heaved the shot 31' 6 ½" to take the shot put title. Bree Renner and Hannah Mills tied for first place in the high jump as each athlete cleared 4' 10".


Mackenzie Weis won the girls' 3200 meter run in a time of 12:46.00. The Lady Vikes' 4x800 meter relay team of Kelsey Weis, Josie Riggs, Mackenzie Weis, and Kayla Robinson ran a first place time of 10:51.16.


Sam Riggs won the boys' pole vault by clearing 11'0".Zach Goddard won the triple jump with a mark of 36' 11 ½". Justin Beshore ran a first place time of 41.90 in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.


The Vikings' 4x400 meter relay team of Clint Hayes, Sam Riggs, Taylor Ayres, and Justin Beshore ran a first place time of 3:45.00.


Hannah Mills clocked a second place time of 1:06.0 in the girls' 400 meter dash. Mackenzie Weis ran a second place time of 5:52.00 in the 1600 meter run. Shelby Garrigus jumped 33' 4" to place second in the triple jump, and Josie Riggs cleared 7' 0" to place second in the pole vault.


Clint Hayes was second in the boys' 300 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 42.40 seconds. Justin Beshore was second in the 110 meter high hurdles in a time of 16.50 seconds.


Shelby Garrigus had a third place mark of 15' 11 ½" in the girls' long jump. The Lady Vikes' 4x400 meter relay team of Kayla Robinson, Bree Renner, Hannah Mills, and Shelby Garrigus ran a third place time of 4:47.00.


Christopher Zoog ran a third place time of 12:01.00 in the boys' 3200 meter run. The Vikes' 4x200 meter relay team of Justin Beshore, Zach Goddard, Sam Riggs, and Clint Hayes ran a third place time of 1:37.00.


Hannah Mills had a fourth place effort of 28' 4 ½' in the girls' triple jump. Shelby Garrigus cleared 7' 0" to place fourth in the pole vault.


Kelsey Weis ran a fifth place time of 2:45.00 in the girls' 800 meter run, and Kelsey ran a fifth place time of 6:20.00 in the 1600 meter run. Jennifer Gorsage spun the discus 77' 8 ½" for a fifth place finish.


Clint Hayes ran a fifth place time of 23.70 seconds in the boys' 200 meter dash. Paul Stark clocked a fifth place time of 12:09.00 in the 3200 meter run. The Vikes' 4x800 meter relay team of Bryan Fregeau, Jacob Damron, Tyler Machal, and Paul Stark ran a fifth place time of 9:38.74.


Tyler Yahnig cleared 8' 6" to place fifth in the boys' pole vault event. Dylan Beshore had a fifth place effort of 18' 4 ½" in the long jump.


Victoria Bynum ran a sixth place time of 19.56 seconds in the 100 meter high hurdles.


The Midway Relays, scheduled for Monday, April 27, were canceled due to the heavy rains. The next action for the purple track & field teams will be on Thursday, April 30, at the Prairie View Invitational, LaCygne, Kansas.
