28th Annual Midway Invitational Basketball Tournament Results: Boys

The first games of the 28th Annual Midway Tournament were held last week on Monday February 10.

 

 The Midway Varsity boys were seeded forth and played their opening game against Lone Jack on Tuesday, February 11. Lone Jack won 58 to 56. Clay Dahman was high scorer with a total of 21, and Tanner Yahnig followed with a total of 15. Mason Irvin scored 10, Tyler Wright 6, and Bobby Zielinski 4.

 

The leading rebounder was Mason Irvin with 11, followed by Tyler Wright with 10. Clay Dahman had a total of 9, Tanner Yahnig with 6, Nate Fisher and Bobby Zielinski 3, and Chris Chandler 1.

 

Tyler Wright had 9 total assists; Mason Irvin had 3, Tanner Yahnig 2 and Bobby Zielinski  had 1.

 

The semi-final game for the Midway Vikings was played against the Crest Ridge Cougars on Wednesday. The Vikings won the game 40-29. This win took the boys into the 5th place Consolation game.

 

Leading the Vikings in points was Clay Dahman with 14 points. Mason Irvin and Tyler Wright both scored 8 points, Chris Chandler and Tanner Yahnig had 3 points each, and Bobby Zielinski and Conor Hayes both made 2 points.

 

Midway’s third game of the tournament was played Friday for the consolation prize against Adrian. Midway pulled ahead in the last minutes of the fourth quarter to finish with a score of 53 to 52.

 

Throughout the game Midway’s top scorer was Tyler Wright with 20 points, followed by Clay Dahman with 13 points. Bobby Zielinski scored 10, Tanner Yahnig 7, and Mason Irvin 3.

 

The 2014 Boys all-tournament team included Jeriah Horne- Barstow, Jacob Gilliard Barstow, Elijah VanDepoi- Christ Prep., Devon Deines- Lone Jack, Easton Aspergren- KC Lutheran, and our very own, Clay Dahman- Midway.
