Midway Goes Splitsville with Leeton

The Midway varsity basketball teams traveled to Leeton on January 7 to play against the Bulldogs. The girls won 36-26. The boys lost 58-62.


The leading scorer for the Lady Vikings was Mariah Keeney with 13 points, followed by Laine Mills with 9 points, Emily Aksamit with 7 points, and Jodi Rhodes, Ashlee Box and Dee Stark with 2 points each.


Jodi Rhodes, Mariah Keeney, and Laine Mills all had 6 rebounds each, followed by Dee Stark with 4, Ashlee Box with 3, and Emily Aksamit and Maddie Anderson with 2 rebounds each.


Emily Aksamit, Maddie Anderson, and Jodi Rhodes had 3 assists each, followed by Dee Stark, Mariah Keeney and Laine Mills with 1 assist each.


Head Coach Chad Dean said “I was glad to see us play so well after break. It was fun to see the things that we worked on in practice worked so well in a game.”


That same evening the Midway Vikings lost a close game to the Bulldogs. The final score of the game was 58-62.


The Vikings’ leading scorer was Clay Dahman with 16 points, followed by Tyler Wright with 11 points, Mason Irvin with 10 points, Nate Fischer with 9 points, Tanner Yahnig with 5 points, Chris Chandler with 3 points, and Conor Hayes and Bobby Zielinski each had 2 points.


The Vikings’ leading rebounders were Clay Dahman and Mason Irvin, each with 10 rebounds. They were followed by Conor Hayes with 3 rebounds, Bobby Zielinski and Tyler Wright with 2 rebounds, and Tanner Yahnig with 1 rebound.
