The Vikings Just Didn't Have a Good Knight

The Midway Lady Vikings suffered their first volleyball loss as they traveled to Kansas City to play the Lady Knights of KC Lutheran High School on September 27. There were a total of 3 games played (C-team, JV, and Varsity) and all were lost to Lutheran in two matches. The C-team lost in two, the final JV scores were 26-28 and 22-25, and the final varsity scores were 11-25 and 20-25.
The leading varsity hitter was Megan O’Brien, who had 11 attacks and 4 kills, followed by Emily Aksamit with 7 attacks and 2 kills, Jessica Owens with 5 attacks and 2 kills, Miranda Dahman with 4 attacks and 2 kills, and Mariah Keeney with 5 attacks and 1 kill.
Jodi Rhodes had 6 assists and Kasey Roberson had 4.
The Lady Vikings had a total of 4 completed block assists. Laine Mills had 2 block assists, Miranda Dahman and Mariah Keeney both had 1 block assist each.
The Vikings had a total of 42 digs. Leading the Vikings in digs was Raelynn Goddard with 11, Miranda Dahman with 9, Megan O’Brien and Emily Aksamit both with 7 digs each, and Kasey Roberson with 4.
Megan O’Brien served 12 balls with 2 aces and no missed serves, and Miranda Dahman and Raelynn Goddard served 3 times each with no missed serves. The Lady Vikings had a total of 27 serves.
Senior Megan O’Brien could comment positively that “we didn’t play to our potential, but it let us know what to work on.”
