Midway Volleyball Team District 14 Champions

The Cass Midway volleyball Lady Vikings claimed the MSHSAA Class 1 District 14 Tournament championship on Tuesday, October 23. The tournament was played at Archie High School.

 Midway went into Districts seeded #1.

Lone Jack beat Midway in the first game of the semifinal match 25-20. Midway reversed the trend, however, and defeated Lone Jack 25-18 in game two. The Lady Vikings had a 25-15 win in game three and a semifinal victory.

Kathleen Yoakum served 4 aces, Megan O’Brien served 3 aces, Paige Kurzweil served 2 aces and Miranda Dahman served 1 ace vs. Lone Jack.

Miranda Dahman had 11 kills. Megan O’Brien had 9 kills. Paige Kurzweil and Kathleen Yoakum each had 7 kills. Cady Wright and Jessica Owens each had 3 kills.

Cady Wright had 18 assists, Jodi Rhodes had 14 assists, Kathleen Yoakum had 6 assists, and Raelynn Goddard had 1 assist.

Miranda Dahman had 3 blocks. Kathleen Yoakum had 2 blocks. Megan O’Brien and Jessica Owens each had 1 block.

Raelynn Goddard, Cady Wright, and Jessica Owens each had 9 digs. Paige Kurzweil made 7 digs. Megan O’Brien made 6 digs. Miranda Dahman made 5 digs and Kathleen Yoakum made 2 digs.

Midway won the first game of the championship match topping KC Lutheran 25-21. Midway then dominated KC Lutheran in the second game, with the final scoreboard reading Midway 25 and KC Lutheran 14.  The 2-0 win made the Lady Vikings district champions.

Megan O’Brien and Kathleen Yoakum each served 2 aces vs. KC Lutheran.

Miranda Dahman had 5 kills, Paige Kurzweil, Kathleen Yoakum and Megan O’Brien each had 4 kills. Cady Wright had 3 kills and Jessica Owens had 2 kills.

Cady Wright lead the way with 10 assists. Jodi Rhodes had 8 assists. Jessica Owens had 1 assist.

Miranda Dahman and Jessica Owens each had 2 blocks. Megan O’Brien and Cady Wright each had 1 block.

Megan O’Brien made 11 digs. Raelynn Goddard and Miranda Dahman each made 7 digs. Jodi Rhodes and Jessica Owens each made 3 digs. Paige Kurzweil, Kathleen Yoakum, and Cady Wright each made 1 dig.
