Both the Vikings and the Lady Vikings won district team titles, and many Midway athletes will be advancing to next Saturday’s Class 1 Section 2 state-qualifying meet atWillardHigh School.
The Lady Vikings literally ran away with the girls’ team title scoring 164 ½ points. Lockwood was second with 94 ½ points, and Liberal was third with 78 points.
Midway took the boys’ team title with 130 points. Drexel was second with 117 points.Greenfieldcame in third with 86 points.
All athletes and relay teams that placed in the top four at districts advanced to the sectional round of the state series.
Megan O’Brien won the girls’ pole vault by clearing 8’ 6”. Josie Riggs won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:31.80.
Mackenzie Weis won the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:39.30. Mackenzie also won the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:22.20.
The Lady Vikings’ 4x800 meter relay team of Mackenzie Weis, Dee Stark, Jessica Owens, and Josie Riggs ran a first place time of 10:35.10. The Lady Vikings’ 4x400 meter relay team of Cady Wright, Dee Stark, Madyson Berkenpas, and Jessica Owens ran a first place time of 4:19.20.
Bobby Zielinski won the boys’ high jump by clearing 6’ 4”. Joey Beller was the boys’ shot put champion with a mark of 44’ 2 ¼”. Dylan Wise won the 400 meter dash in a time of 53.80 seconds.
Midway’s 4x400 meter relay team of Bobby Zielinski, Conor Hayes, Paul Stark, and Dylan Wise ran a first place time of 3:37.40.
Josie Riggs tied for second in the pole vault by clearing 8’ 0”. Hannah Mills had a second place mark of 15’ 4 ¾” in the long jump. Hannah also had a second place mark of 31’ 10” in the triple jump. Jennifer Gorsage had a second place mark of 96’ 7” in the discus.
Jessica Owens ran a second place time of 1:03.00 in the 400 meter dash. Cady Wright ran a second place time of 51.30 seconds in the 300 meter low hurdles. Cady ran a second place time of 27.70 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
The Lady Vikings’ 4x200 meter relay team of Jessica Owens, Madyson Berkenpas, Cady Wright, and Josie Riggs ran a second place time of 1:52.40.
Peyton Semsch ran a second place time of 17.80 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles. Dylan Wise ran a second place time of 11.50 in the 100 meter dash, and Dylan ran a second place time of 23.70 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
Miranda Dahman had a third place mark of 31’ 6” in the triple jump. Madyson Berkenpas ran a third place time of 17.20 seconds in the 100 meter high hurdles. Dee Stark ran a third place time of 52.30 seconds in the 300 meter low hurdles.
Tyler Yahnig made 12’ 6” to place third in the pole vault.Christian Cromer had a third place mark of 39’ 11” in the shot put.
Jake Lambertz ran a third place time of 18.00 seconds in the 110 meter high hurdles. Conor Hayes ran a third place time of 43.40 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
Midway’s 4x200 meter relay team of Dylan Beshore, Taylor Ayres, Paul Stark, and Bobby Zielinski ran a third place time of 1:38.20.
Laine Mills was fourth in the pole vault by clearing 7’ 6”. Cathleen DeRemer had a fourth place mark of 90’ 9” in the discus.
The Lady Vikings’ 4x100 meter relay team of Miranda Dahman, Allie Hayes, Laine Mills, and Dee Stark ran a fourth place time of 55.80 seconds.
Joey Beller had a fourth place mark of 113’ 11” in the discus.
Madyson Berkenpas was fifth in the pole vault by clearing 7’ 0”.
Peyton Semsch made 12’ 0” to place fifth in the pole vault. Bobby Zielinski had a fifth place mark of 18’ 4” in the long jump.
Midway’s 4x100 meter relay team of Dylan Beshore, Taylor Ayres, Tyler Yahnig, and Paul Stark ran a fifth place time of 47.40 seconds.
Hannah Mills cleared 4’ 10” to place sixth in the high jump.
Christopher Bynum was sixth in the high jump clearing 5’ 4”. Jake Lambertz had a sixth place mark of 34’ 11 ½” in the triple jump, and Jake ran a sixth place time of 45.50 seconds in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
Midway’s 4x800 meter relay team of Conor Hayes, Clay Dahman, Bryan Fregeau, and Paul Stark ran a sixth place time of 9:14.60.
Clay Dahman had a seventh place mark of 17’ 10” in the long jump. Christian Cromer had a seventh place mark of 107’ 3” in the discus. Tyler Machal ran a seventh place time of 12:46.90 in the 3200 meter run.
Jodi Rhodes ran an eighth place time of 6:52.10 in the 1600 meter run. Miranda Dahman ran an eighth place time of 30.20 seconds in the 200 meter dash.
Tyler Machal ran an eighth place time of 5:17.60 in the 1600 meter run.
The Class 1 Section 2 state qualifying meet will be contested atWillardHigh Schoolon Saturday, May 12. The meet gets underway at noon. Athletes and relays placing in the top four places at the sectional meet will advance to the MSHSAA State Championships on May 18 and May 19 at Dwight T. Reed Stadium on the campus ofLincolnUniversityinJefferson City.
