TIGERS TOPPLE VIKINGS @ DISTRICT

Cass Midway’s Vikings ended their 2011-12 basketball season with a loss to the Rich Hill Tigers in a championship semifinal game at the MSHSAA Class 2 District 13 Basketball Tournament at Archie on Thursday, March 1.

Rich Hill had just a one-point 17 to 16 lead on Midway after one quarter of play; but by halftime, the Tiger lead over the Vikings had grown to 33-19. Rich Hill had a 59 to 28 lead on Midway at the end of three quarters of play. The final score was Tigers 67 and Vikings 34.

Taylor Ayres netted a team high 19 points for the Vikings. Dylan Wise scored 6 points. Bryan Fregeau, Anthony Hawkins, Tyler Yahnig, and Peyton Semsch each scored 2 points. Paul Stark scored 1 point.

Dylan Wise, Tyler Yahnig, and Taylor Ayres each had 4 rebounds. Anthony Hawkins had 3 rebounds. Bryan Fregeau and Peyton Semsch each had 2 rebounds. Christian Cromer, Bobby Zielinski, Paul Stark, and Christopher Bynum each had 1 rebound.

Bryan Fregeau had 3 assists and 1 blocked shot. Anthony Hawkins had 3 steals and 1 blocked shot. Taylor Ayres had 3 assists. Peyton Semsch had 1 assist and 1 steal. Christian Cromer had 1 blocked shot. Dylan Wise had 1 assist.

Five seniors, Bryan Fregeau, Tyler Yahnig, Taylor Ayres, Paul Stark, and Tyler Machal each played their final game as a Midway Viking vs. Rich Hill.

The Vikings concluded the 2011-12 season with a record of 11 wins and 15 losses. Midway was 2-5 in Western Missouri Conference play.
