MHS Students Take 1st Place in You Tube Video Contest
February 18, 2011Mundelein Consolidated High School
Congratulations to Mundelein High School Students Andrea Stoll, Zoe Kraft, and Allie Bulgart who won 1st place in the 2010 Lake County You Tube Fire Safety contest.
The students created the fire safety video as part of a class project while enrolled in the TV Apprenticeship class at the high school. Upon hearing the students took 1st place Television Production teacher Kent Meister said "he was just thrilled." "A couple of years ago a student won second place in this contest however this is just great!" "There were some really good videos in the contest, these girls worked really hard and I am proud of them." The fire safety video used a split screen technique to demonstrate the right and wrong things to do should a fire break out in your home. "We broke a window screen at my house while filming the video " said Andrea Stoll, "But at this point it was well worth it", she said with a smile on her face."
In addition to the first place honor the girls earned a 500 dollar prize which they will split as well as a digital camera that was awarded to the school. Event Coordinator Tony Rodkey of the Countryside fire department said "This is really a win win situation. It allows a great opportunity for the fire department to promote fire safety among the 30,000 high school students of Lake County while also creating a platform to showcase the great work of television students from the participating high schools."
"Here is proof that it really pays to do your homework" Meister said jokingly. The winning entry as well as 3 others that were submitted to the contest can be viewed on the web at WWW.IHIGH.COM/MHS. They can be found under the Video Class Tab on the left side of the screen. Congratulations Ladies!
