Home » Baseball NewsKnights lose to Southern UnionFebruary 11, 2013 By James Hagler, Jr of MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE COLLEGEIn a make-up game from a rain out last Thursday, the Knights traveled to Wadley, Alabama to take on Southern Union on Sunday. The game resulted in a 9-7 loss for the Knights. Graham took the loss throwing 2 innings giving up 7 runs 5 of which were earned. Conner Alford (Tattnall in Macon) threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to give the Knights a chance to get back in the game. Adam Eggnatz threw the final 3 frames giving up 2 unearned runs, which proved to be the difference. Offensively the Knights were led at the plate by Blake Shouse’s 1 for 2 day with 3 RBI’s a walk, hit by pitch, and sac fly. Drew Kelley and Adam Eggnatz each had multiple hits in the game. The Knights loaded the bases in the 9th but Southern Union reliever Locke St. John struck out the final two Knights to preserve the win. The Knights next game is Friday and Saturday on the road at Chipola in Marrianna, FL where they will face National powers Chipola and San Jacinto out of Texas. The Knights are currently 14th in the JUCO national polls.
