Middle Georgia State College Baseball sweeps doubleheader against Southern Union

Middle Georgia State College baseball played Southern Union out of Alabama in a Double Header today. The Knights won both by a score of 15-3 in the first and 1-0 in the second.

 

Game one recap - Alex Roberts picked up his first win of the season by throwing 4 innings giving up 4 hits and allowing 2 earned runs. Justin Flores came on in the 5th and threw 3 innings for his first colligate save. The Knights racked up 15 runs on 12 hits. Cody Lanford went 2 for 4 with a Home Run and 2 RBI’s. Blake Shouse had a great game going 2 for 4 with a double, and a triple and knocking in 2. Javier Reynoso had a 2 for 5 day at the plate with a Home Run and 4 RBI’s. Drew Kelley was 2 for 3 with a double and a home run and plating 3.

 

Game two was a pitching duel. Javier Reynoso picked up the win throwing 4 scoreless innings and striking out 5. Ryan Lawlor threw two perfect innings striking out 3, and Blake Shouse picked up the save throwing a perfect 7th inning. The only run of the game came on a leadoff home run off the bat of Cody Lanford in the 1st inning. Cole Thompson collected two hits in game two as did Cody Lanford. Both are from Jones County.
