MGSC defeats GA Highlands

The Middle Georgia State Men’s basketball team made it two straight with a 57-53 win over Georgia Highlands College on 2/4. After trailing by 5 at the half the Warriors held the Chargers to just 25% shooting from the field in the second half. Head Coach Scott Moe states “Once again our defense was the difference in the final outcome, I have been telling my team all year when we defend like we can we have a great chance to win.” Shane Heyward had 7 blocks and 10 rebounds to help the defensive effort. Moe goes on to say “ Shane and Joey Harris really turned up the effort in the second half, Which made the whole team really play outstanding team defense.”
The Warriors were lead in scoring by Cortez Riley with 14 points and Joey Harris added 12. Riley also grabbed 10 rebounds as well. Earl Lawrence dished out 5 assists and had 6 steals.
The Warriors move to 15-5 on the season and 6-5 in conference.
Warriors travel to Swainsboro on Wednesday to play East Georgia State College. Tip-off is at 7:30pm
