HALL OF FAME
June 2012 Newsletter
June 3, 2012Missouri Football Coaches Association
I have a feeling that many of us feel like we have never actually been to "work" a day in our lives unless we count those summers and weekends working with our Dad's doing anything.
I remember Dad would call out, "Get the toolbox. Meet me in the truck." Oh man - just when I was really about to have some fun Dad expected me to tag along on one of his handyman jobs. It seemed like an eternity every time we needed to fix a sink, or wire an outlet, or drywall a room. Most times on the way home I was rewarded with a stop at the popcorn vendor, or a 7-11 smoothie. Looking back now I realize how blessed I was for those afternoons. I'm glad I was paying attention (for the most part) and I'm thankful for his patience, although at the time I wondered if he had any patience with me at all!
Fast forward 25 years... I love nothing more than bringing my kids with me to work. I want them to see what I do for a living. Summer camps are a great way for us to do this. I love looking over at the high jump mat and seeing them bounce like crazy while I'm setting up the next drill. Sometimes I've gone dizzy trying to keep up with how many laps the young one has made on her bike around the track. At some point down the line I want my daughters to realize, "Oh, this is where Dad is all those summer days..."
Coaches, Fathers Day is nearing and I hope we all take the time to remember our most important job. For those of you who may not be fathers please reflect on your own. These are special relationships in our lives and I hope you can make the most of the ones in your own life.
Beginning this month the MFCA will be providing you with up-to-date news regarding the issues surrounding high school football. This weekly newsletter will appear in your in-boxes once a week and will replace this once-per-month update from your Missouri Football Coaches Association. You can read more about this exciting new feature here.
Also, we are excited to announce our new partnership with Digital Scout. Digital Scout is the national leader in high school sports stat tracking. As a result of our partnership, Digital Scout is providing Free Digital Scout software/apps for ALL Missouri High School Football Coaches to use this season.
In return we ask that every coach go to the following website and sign up for your free Digital Scout account:http://hsga.me/mizzcoaches
The only thing Digital Scout is asking in return is that you have a staisticican use their statware during your 2012 games on a smart phone, iPad with a data plan, or a laptop with wifi provided in the pressbox. If everyone is willing to do so, Digital Scout will provide additonal incentive for our association to continue this partnership into the future.
Free online training of Digital Scout will be made available in the coming months leading up to the fall season. Digital Scout allows you to file 30 different reports as a result of using this account, not to mention free uploads of stats to sites like Max Preps.
If you have any questions feel free to contact Josh Applebaum from Digital Scout at email@example.com.
We are very thankful for our many sponsors. Without their support our association could not provided the services to our members that we count on. Please take the time to consider the products provided by our sponsors. Let them know you are a member of the MFCA when you contact them.
