Taylor Jensen had a career night scoring 24 for the Saints as 10 players broke into the scoring column. The diminutive senior made good on her final night before the home crowd by shooting near 60 percent from the floor, including four rainbows from 3-point land. She also had six assists and a steal to her credit. Mallie Wells (12 points) and JoAnna Wells (10) also scored in double figures. JoAnna Wells also hauled in five rebounds, made three steals, and blocked three shots. Haylie Branson and Sydney Wilson contributed six points each to the win. Branson also turned in some solid board work with seven rebounds; Dani Starkovich pulled down six caroms, and Ally Rowley four. The Saints took only nine shots from the charity stripe, but no player had more than two personal fouls in the game. Joining Jensen for their senior farewells were JoAnna Wells, Starkovich, Rowley, and Katie Thornton. Thornton was the team's leading scorer (13.7 per game), JoAnna Wells the leading rebounder (7.1) and shot blocker (38), and Jenson led in assists (64). Rowley had 61 assists, and Starkovich added 16 steals to the team's totals. "Great game for the seniors to go out on in their final home game," said MD girls' basketball head coach Jim Crozier crediting their hard work in practice and on the court. "These five young ladies have been great leaders for our team. They will be dearly missed next season." MD's final conference game is at Seymour, Feb. 5, and they close out the regular season Feb. 9 at Twin Cedars. _ Melcher-Dallas Sports
