The 14U Maryland Chill Black fastpitch softball team participated in the 7-8 May 2011 USSSA sponsored 11th Annual May Madness tournament held at Fairland Regional Park in Laurel, MD.

In the first game of the tournament, the 14U Chill Black paired an offensive surge in the 3rd inning with solid pitching to come away with a 3-1 win over a tough MD Stars team.

In the second game of pool play, 14U Chill Black started slow and found themselves digging out of a hole. Despite putting runs on the scoreboard in the 2nd, 3rd and bottom of the last inning, the 14U MD Chill Black fell one run short to a scrappy Olney Cougars 13U team.

In the third game of the day, the 14U Chill Black showed their mental toughness and returned to the fundamental by stringing together a series of timely hits and playing solid defense to come away with an impressive 7-2 win over the Shamrocks.

Seeding 1st from the A-pool,, the 14U Chill Black played their first game of bracket play Saturday evening. The team kept their intensity with a strong mixture of defense, hitting, and base running, earning an impressive 8-0 win over the Hartford Extreme.

On Sunday, bracket play resumed and the 14U Chill Black continued with their tough defense. With a slew of dominant pitches and a strong offensive showing the 14U Chill Black shut out the Olney Cougars 13U 8-0.

In the championship matchup the 14U Chill Black found themselves facing the Olney Cougars White. Digging deep and trying to find the right mixture, the 14U Chill Black came up short in the final game of the tournament.

The 14U MD Chill Black earned the Second Place trophy.

Team members include Madison Vicendese, Imani Torregano, Kelly Lynch, Gracie Logan, Kayla Clark, Payton Pross, Madison Churchill, Breanna Casper, Tiffany Bearns, Ashley Prince, Courtney O'Neill, and Christy Selby.
