LADY WILDCATS LOSE 2 ROAD GAMES LAST WEEK

The Montgomery County R-2 Lady Wildcats basketball team had their first two “road” games of the season last week and lost both of them.  On Monday, December 12, they lost to Bowling Green 47-20 in an East Missouri (EMO) Conference game.  On Wednesday, December 14 they lost to Fulton 46-28.  With these games the Lady Wildcats have an overall record of 2 wins and 3 losses and a 1-1 EMO Conference record.

In the Bowling Green game the Lady Wildcats’ slow start in both the first half and the second half was their undoing.  BG took control of the game in the first quarter, outscoring R-2 14-6.  The Lady Wildcats outscored BG 6-5 in the second quarter, to make the score 19-12 at halftime.  The third quarter was definitely all BG, as the Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Wildcats 22-0 to take a 41-12 lead.  R-2 then outscored BG 8-7 in the fourth quarter to make the final score 47-20.

Amy Muchow led R-2 in scoring with 6 points (2 field goals/FGs and 2 free throws/FTs).  She was followed in the scoring by Rachel Miller and Brandy Reagan with 4 points (2 FGs each), and Courtney Thomas, Makayla Yager and Danielle Schmidt with 2 points each (1 FG each).  Mackenzie Yager and Shelby Roark both played, but did not score.

In other key stats Reagan led the team in rebounds with 11, while Miller led the team in assists with 4.

In the Fulton game the Lady Hornets were able to outscore R-2 in all four quarters to gradually come away with an easy win.  Fulton outscored R-2 11-8 in the first quarter and then won the second quarter 14-9, to lead R-2 25-17 at halftime.  The third quarter score was 11-6, in favor of Fulton, to make the score 36-23.  In the fourth quarter Fulton outscored R-2 10-5 to come away with a 46-28 victory.

Reagan led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 22 of the team’s 28 points (8 FGs/6 FTs).  She was followed by Muchow with 3 points (1 FG/1 FT), Thomas with 2 points (1 FG) and Schmidt with 1 point (1 FT).  Miller and both Yager girls played in the game but did not score.

Reagan also led the team in rebounds with 12.  Miller led the team in assists with 6 and Muchow led the team in assists with 3.

The Lady Wildcats have/had 2 more games this week, before the Christmas Break starts.  On Monday, December 19, they played at Wright City (EMO Conference game).  On Tuesday, December 20, the Lady Wildcats will host New Haven (non-conference game).  The JV girls’ game will start at 6:00 p.m.

The girls will have their first game of 2012 on the first day back to school January 3, Tuesday, as they will host Orchard Farm in an EMO Conference game.  On January 5, Thursday they will play at South Callaway in a non-conference game.  On both nights the Jr. Varsity games will be played first at 6:00 p.m., which will be followed by the Varsity games.

The Lady Wildcats and their coaches encourage you to attend their games and cheer them on to victory.  Go Lady Wildcats!
