Elsberry Game (12/5/11)

December 6, 2011
By Jessie Cobb of Montgomery County High School

On Monday, the Montgomery Co Lady Wildcats hosted Elsberry Lady Indians.  The Lady Wildcats got off to a fast start and kept that up throughout the game.  In the first quarter the Lady Wildcats missed a few easy baskets in the first minute but quickly made up for that by scoring 14 in the first quarter and held Elsberry to 0.  The second quarter was much of the same and the half time score was 28-7 in favor on Montgomery Co.  In the first half, Montgomery Co had trouble with unforced turnovers but did a great job on the defensive glass allowing only 1 offensive rebound for Elsberry.  In the second half, the Lady Wildcats continued to have great production on the offensive end and played great defense.  The final score was 50-13.  The Lady Wildcats shot 19 of 36 (53% from the field), had 22 defensive rebounds, 17 steals, 10 offensive rebounds, and 12 assists.

Brandy Reagan led the Lady Wildcats with 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 2 steals.  Rachel Miller with 9 points, 8 assists, and 6 steals.  Courtney Thomas had 8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Amy Muchow and Mackenzie Yager contributed 6 points each, and Makayla Yager had 2.  Elsberry’s leading scorer was Krista Dye with 7 points.

The Lady Wildcats are off the rest of the week.  The next game will be next Monday at Bowling Green and next Wednesday at Fulton.
