REAGAN EARNS BASKETBALL ACADEMIC ALL-STATE HONORS

Brandy Reagan has been selected by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) to be on the association’s Academic All-State Team for the 2011-12 season.  Brandy is a Senior at Montgomery County R-2, and has been one of the key players for the past 3 seasons for the Lady Wildcats.

Brandy is the fifth Lady Wildcat to receive this honor.  The first to do so was Erica Daume in the 1990-91 season.  In the 1992-93 season Jill River and Susan Henke received this recognition and in the 1993-94 season Robin Collins received this award.

In order to earn this award, Brandy had to meet the following qualifications:

  1. Be a Senior – The Missouri State High School Activities Association only allows such awards to Seniors.
  2. Start at least 90% of this season’s games.
  3. Play in at least 75% of the total quarters played this season by the team.
  4. Have outstanding moral character.
  5. Have a minimum score of 27 on the ACT Test – College entrance exam.
  6. Have a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
  7. Have good to excellent individual basketball statistics for the season.

As for her basketball stats for the 2011-12 season, Brandy led the Lady Wildcats in several areas.  She was the leading scorer with 276 points (11.5 points per game average), as she led the team in shots made (101) and free throws made (74).  She also led the team in rebounds with 238 (9.9 rebounds per game average).  In addition, she was voted to the 1st Team All-Conference of the East Missouri Conference by the conference coaches for the second straight season.

The MBCA has invited Brandy and family to attend the Academic All-State Banquet, where she will be honored along with the other players who have received this award.  The banquet will be held in Springfield at the O’Reilly Events Center on April 29, at 1:00 p.m.

Congratulations to Brandy for receiving this honor.  Receiving this award shows that you are a successful young woman, both on the court and in the classroom.  Also, best wishes to you as you graduate and move on to the next stage in your life.
