Built PACK Strong!

January 17, 2012
By John Klekamp of Montgomery County High School

On Saturday March 10, 2012, the Montgomery County BFS Program will journey to Mokane, Missouri to compete in the 4th Annual South Callaway PowerMeet.  In 2011, the County BFS Program - PACK Strong Team brought home a third place finish in the boys division and our girls brought home a second place trophy.  The team was also responsible for breaking 7 SC PowerMeet Records and having multiple athletes place in their perspective weight class.

The competition is based on an athletic rating, that is derived from an athlete's participation in five measurements of overall athleticism.  Each athlete will perform a maximum lift in the parallel squat, power/hang clean, and the bench press.  The athletes will also be tested in the vertical jump and 40 yard dash.  The athletic rating is found by adding the total of the three strength lifts to the vertical jump in centimeters; then divide that number by 40 yard dash time and the athlete's weight.

If you are interested in participating and becoming part of our PACK Strong Team for this year, please see Coach John Klekamp.  Forms are availible on this website under the Strength and Conditioning section or you can pick one up in the high school office.  We will also again be raising money for the high school weightroom through the Lift-A-Thon.  If you have questions about this please see Coach K.
