METv Offers Viewers Option of Watching Programming Online

July 6, 2011
Marshalltown Cable Television

For several years METv has offered residents in the Marshalltown area a variety of local programs to watch on the cable TV system.  Recently, METv has upgraded their services allowing residents to go online to watch their favorite programs.

METv Station Manager, Steve Muntz felt it was time to expand to the internet. "We still want to offer programming on cable TV for people to watch local programs, but we feel that those residents who don't have cable will now have the opportunity to watch the programming on their computer."

Muntz mentioned there are a few advantages of the internet option. "The nice thing about using the METv internet option, is the fact that viewers can go to the web site and watch the latest City Council meeting or other programs when it fits into their schedule instead of waiting for the program to air on TV.  The interactive nature of offering programs online will also allow viewers to make suggestions about programming and it allows METv to track how many people are watching a particular program."

Muntz also wanted to assure cable subscribers that this was not going to replace what they currrently offer on the METv cable channel.   The new online service is only meant to allow more people to access local TV programming.

METv currently airs Marshalltown City Council meetings, Marshall County Board of Supervisor meetings,  Marshalltown Community School board meetings, local sporting events, Discover Marshalltown, annual city festivals like Oktemberfest and the BBQ festival and many other programs that deal with the Marshalltown area.

The new METv online service is free and can be found at:
