NORCROSS, GA - The Marriott Invitational's finale between the Norcross Blue Devils and Quality of Education Pharoahs (NC) did not disappoint the nearly capacity crowd on a cold frige night at Norcross High School as the Blue Devils edged out the Pharoahs 65-63 on a last second shot by senior forward Malcolm McDonald.  It was a tightly contested match all game which saw four lead changes that led to a 60-60 tied with 1:11 in the four quarter when the Pharoah's junior forward Quincy Miller connected on jumper from the short corner.

A blown defensive assignment by the Pharoahs with 57 seconds left a unattended McDonald underneath the basket for a easy layup to put the Blue Devils up by two 60-62.  E. Victor Nickerson could only manage to hit one of two free throws with 24 seconds left to play which gave the Blue Devils a three point lead 60-63 that brought the hometown crowd to its feet. The Pharoahs, Miller silented the crowd with a big time, clutch three point shot over two defenders that tied the game at 63-63, which surely would to push the contest into overtime with under 10 seconds to play but Jermery Lamb (UConn) raced down the court and found an open McDonald for the layup to seal the victory for the Blue Devils 65-63.

The Blue Devils had major contributions by guards Josiah Moore (2010) who had 10 points and 10 rebounds, both Marty Johnson (11 points) and Chris Bolden (12 points) added timely shooting from beyond the arc.  Lamb had  a quiet 17 points.  For the Pharoahs, Quincy Miller led all scorers with 23 points (18 in the 2nd half), Charles McKinney and Dominque Pointer both finished with 11 points.

Despite the hard fought effort by the Norcross Blue Devils in the home win,  the game was marred by inconsistent calls by the officiating crew especially in the final minutes while the game still in the balance that possibly effect the outcome.

In other action:

GAC got off to a fast start on Greene County (AL) and did not look back as the Spartans coasted to a 82-60 victory led by the hot hand of juniors Malcolm Brogdon with 25 points and eight rebound and crafty guard play by Paul Dawson with 18 points and six assists. Senior post Trent Wiedeman had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Elliott Long added 16.  For Green County, Neiko Hunter led all scorers with 23 points and Shawn Carpenter added 16 points.

Brogdon continues to prove he can score with 25 points
