Photo Description| RJ Haines- Head Varsity Football Coach
R.J. Haines is entering his 4th season as Head Football Coach at Manteno High School. Since his arrival, numbers have nearly doubled and an increase in energy and support has rejuvenated the program. Before arriving at Manteno, Haines was the Head Football coach at Iroquois West High where he posted a 5 – 1 playoff record and two SVC Conference Championships in 2002 and 2003. In 2003, Haines led Iroquois West to an IHSA Class 2A State Championship, where Haines’ offense set a state title game record by passing for 381 yards on a snowy, cold day at Memorial Stadium in Champaign. He is well known among his peers for his knowledge of the spread offense and expertise as a QB coach, Haines has been a guest speaker at football coaching clinics, including the 2004 IHFCA Spring Football Coaching Clinic. He has also published an article regarding his offense in the 2004 publication of Illinois Football.
Haines began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Iroquois West HS from 1999 – 2001 and then the Head Football Coach at Iroquois West HS from 2002 - 2005. Haines attended Monmouth College where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology and education and was a three-year letter winner in football, from 1996 – 1998, including All-Conference honors in his senior season. Haines is a native of Rushville IL. He and his wife, Trisha, have two children: daughter Camryn, and son, Brayden.
