The Panther wrestling team recently celebrated their history making season at their annual end of the year banquet. Manteno honored the first ever Regional Championship team with the awards night and then acknowledged them in front of the school board. The Panthers also honored individual award winners Christian Franc, Anthony Franc, Matt McGahan, Devon Betts, and Anthony Higbee. Christian Franc won the Rookie of the Year Award by becoming only Manteno's second freshman to ever qualify for the state tournament. Anthony Franc won the Most Valuable Panther Award by scoring the most team points this year. Matt McGahan won the Purple Heart Award for his unselfish attitude and commitment to the Program. Devon Betts was named Most Improved for winning 29 matches his first year in the varsity line up. Anthony Higbee was named the team's Most Outstanding Athlete finishing his senior season with 100 career wins and his second trip to the state tournament.
