Panthers Finish Second in Early Bird Tourney

The Manteno Varsity Volleyball team participated in the Manteno Early Bird Tournament this weekend finishing first in their pool with wins over T.F. North, Illinois Lutheran and Newark. The Panthers played a great semi-final match, beating Grant Park before losing in the finals to a tough Watseka team to take second place in the tournament. Standouts for the tournament were Alexis Gilbert with 38 kills and 19 digs followed by Kori Johnson with 17 kills and 4 blocks, Maren Wiltshire with 15 kills and 29 digs and Jaylan Dunn with 13 kills and 13 blocks. Jocelyn LeSage had 40 set assists and 22 digs while Haylie Riner and Carly Trepanier contributed 17 and 15 set assists respectively. Alyssa Snodsmith led in the back court with 29 digs followed by Selena Schulteis with 20 digs. Congratulations to Alyssa Snodsmith and Alexis Gilbert for being named to the All-Tournament team. The Panthers are now 7-1 for the season and play Tuesday night at home against Herscher in the conference opener.
