Panthers Defeat Coal City

The Manteno Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Coal City Coalers last night by scores of 25-17, 25-19. Alexis Gilbert had 7 kills and 3 blocks followed by Amber Hopf with 4 kills and 4 blocks. Courtney Posing had 4 set assists and 2 service aces and Jocelyn LeSage had 3 set assists. In the back court, Karli Shields had 9 digs while Emma Shores had 4 digs and 5 service aces. The Panthers finish their regular season with a record of 25-8. They will play again next Tuesday in the Regional Tournament against Reed-Custer at 7:00 pm at Reed-Custer. Thanks to all those who came out last night to support our “Volley for the Cure” event!
The Manteno Sophomore Volleyball team also defeated Coal City last night by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-20. Kori Johnson had 8 kills and 6 digs, Haylie Riner had 7 kills and 16 digs, and Emily Schierenbeck and Madison Langlois had 6 kills each. Ashtyn Rees had 4 kills, 19 set assists and 10 digs and Jackie Beck had 11 set assists and 2 service aces. In the back court, Selena Schulteis had 15 digs while Sarah Marshall contributed 16 digs and 2 service aces. The Sophomores finish their season with a 16-1 record and the I-8 Conference Championship!
