Home » Volleyball NewsPanthers Beat Reed-CusterOctober 9, 2012 By Cheryl Davis of Manteno High SchoolThe Manteno Varsity Volleyball team defeated the Reed- Custer Comets last night, 25-19, 25-16. Alexis Gilbert led the team with 7 kills, followed by Jaylan Dunn with 6 and Amber Hopf and Maren Wiltshire with 5 kills each. Jocelyn LeSage added 13 set assists and 6 digs, Courtney Posing had 6 set assists and Karli Shields contributed 17 digs in the back court. The Panthers are now 20-6 over all and 5-3 in the I-8 conference and will travel to face Peotone Thursday night.
The Manteno Sophomore Volleyball team also won against Reed- Custer last night by scores of 25-12, 25-17. Standouts for the Sophomores include Emily Schierenbeck, Kori Johnson and Haylie Riner with 3 kills each. Ashtyn Rees had 9 set assists and 6 digs and Jackie Beck had 5 set assists. In the backcourt, Selena Schulteis had 6 digs and 3 service aces and Madison Langlois had 6 digs. The team is now 15-0 on the season and 8-0 in the I-8 conference. The Sophomore team will be in action Thursday night at Peotone.
