Panthers Get Sweep At Bishop Mac

The Manteno Volleyball teams had a great night last night against Bishop McNamara, sweeping the Irish at the Freshman, Sophomore and Varsity levels.  There were many outstanding performances at each level for the Panthers. 

After a slow start by the Varsity in the opening game, the Panthers held on to take a close second game and then came back tough to take the third game with scores of 22-25, 29-27, 25-16.  Alexis Gilbert led the team with 10 kills and 6 digs, followed by Amber Hopf with 9 kills and Maren Wiltshire with 4 kills and 5 digs.  Courtney Posing had 13 set assists, Jocelyn LeSage had 11 set assists while Karli Shields had 9 digs and 4 other players contributed 4 digs each.  It was a great team effort!  The Panthers are now 2-0 on the season.

The Sophomore team defeated Bishop Mac in 2 games with scores of 25-8, 25-10.  Kori Johnson had 5 kills, followed by Madison Langlois with 4 and Haylie Riner with 3 kills and 3 digs. Ashtyn Rees had 8 set assists, 4 digs and 3 service aces, while Sarah Marshall contributed 9 service aces.  The Sophomores are now 2-0 to start the season.

The Freshman team also won their first match of the season by defeating Mac in two games by scores of 25-16, 25-8.  Gabby Boudreau led the team with 5 kills and 5 set assists, followed by Stephanie Sotiropoulos with 4 kills. Alexa Grant had 5 set assists and 5 service aces, Karrigan Wulff had 6 digs, while Reise Malone had 4 service aces and 3 digs.  The Freshman are now 1-0 on the season.

Thanks to all the fans that traveled to Mac last night to support the Panthers.  The teams are in action again Thursday night at Momence with the Freshman starting at 5:00, Sophomores at 6:00 and the Varsity at 7:00.  Come out and continue to support these teams.  Go Panthers!!!
