Panthers: IHSA Class 1A State Runner Up

The Girls Soccer team traveled to Naperville over the weekend to finish off their season at the IHSA Class 1A State Finals. The team beat conference rival Lisle in the State Semi-Finals by a 4-0 margin. Scoring for the Panthers was Emily Gaither (2), Brittani McCorkle, and Sophia Schnitzler. The team turned around the next day to play undefeated Qunicy Notre Dame in the State Championship. The girls held QND scoreless for over 60 minutes, but would eventually give up 3 goals. Despite the 3-0 loss in the championship, the 2012 team will go down in the record books as one of the most successful teams in Manteno Athletics history. 

A special congratulations go out the Senior Captains, Sophie Meskis, Brittani McCorkle, and Grisel Sanchez, for their contributions over the last 4 years. These seniors have won the State Championship, 2 x State Runner Up, an Elite Eight finish, 1 Super Sectional, 3 Sectionals, 4 Regionals, and 4 Conference Championships. Congratulations on an incredible career at MHS!
