0:11 ART Every school offers many electives, woodwork, robotics, ecology, and art. Focusing on Art students learn many things, about culture, about the world, and most of all they learn about themselves as the heart’s shape works of beauty. An art class is necessary to graduate from High school, but it is more than that. Art is the embodiment of passion, and freedom, it demands the world shut out by its foster-hands, and mouthpiece. Mankato East High school offers many art classes from Drawing to Painting, and nearly everything in between. Metal works offers student the can make jewelry, in studio arts kids can learn which manner of art works best for them, drawing is, pretty obvious. In Art history Mankato Eastians can learn about the famous artists of the past, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Art is powerful, it is one of the most significant part of any generation. Art is the manifestation of story telling, without Art man would never have discovered language, or history, or probably the most painful of all Anime. Art is a science, efficient, and calculated~ No one, ever. KNOWLEDGE BOWL Knowledge bowl is a team sport where teams go to competitions and compete against other schools. Its a competition where the teams are asked different questions that range from science to math to english and other subjects. They compete against other schools and if they have a good enough season they can go to the regionals. Last year Mankato East’s team finished 5th in the regional tournament. They look to finish this season even better than they did last year Mr. Baxa said. He’s ready for a good season and he thinks they can have an even better season then they did last year. AVID AVID is a program that started 30 years ago. AVID dedicated to help students improve their learning skills and prepare them for college. Since this is the first year of AVID at Mankato East, AVID only accepted 25 sophomore students. They plan on expanding the class next year to help more students. To join AVID you need a GPA of 2.0 or higher and the dedication of learning. If you’re interested in joining then please contact Mr. Krause and Mrs. Schramer SPEECH TEAM Speech is a competitive extra curricular activity thats students participate in. They do all kinds of categories like extemporaneous reading. It depends on their speeches. The students practice sometimes after school. then comes the tournaments which 6-8 students participate in from every school in the district.So feel! Free to join!
